Can you Afford to be an Obese?

After the incident of September 11, there has been a sharp rise in number of people afflicted with obesity in US. Our stressful and often lazy lifestyle is clearly showing up on the streets crowded with huge number of people lurking around with their expanded waistlines. Finding someone petite or slim is really a cumbersome task.

A report claims that the expenditure on obesity has increased by 1000 times since last 15 years. Finding a right treatment for obesity can be expensive as well as confusing too. Infact the trait of selling the weight loss plans has developed into a big market. There are thousands of websites, huge reading materials online and private firms, which are making and breaking false promises of guaranteed weight loss everyday. These treatments are priced so high that it could easily dig a deep hole in common man's pocket.

An obese person easily increases burden of expenses in his life for his obsession to look like an eye candy or a lot slimmer. He starts splurging out money in useless treatments that promises a quick fix to the problem. Instead, it has to be realized that the healthy way to lose is to indulge in practicing a regular exercise plan and eating a balanced diet.

The huge monetary increase is also a cause of worry for obese people. Researcher's claimed in 2000 that overweight people with private insurance are shelling out 1500 dollars extra when compared with what a normal-weight adults pay. So in the race for prosperity, the obese will always be lagging behind.

Another heartening fact related to obesity is traced out during the study of Diabetes patients for last two years. It has been examined that more than 65 per cent of diabetic patients were already suffering from weight gain. Clearly, the risk for diabetes increases with increase in weight.

In US there are around 29 per cent people suffering from the problem of over weight. It's a big blow to the country's growth as physical health and economic growth goes hand in hand. How can a country rise with its people lazing around in an unsteady state of wellbeing?

So truly we can't afford to be an obese or "a lazy steady-guy" in today's fast track world. It's the root cause for number of economic and physical problems in our life. We need to alienate ourselves completely from obesity.

Instead, we can embrace a blissful life, by eating a balanced and nutritious diet, always being active and mobile and by doing regular exercise to tone up our body.
