Diethylpropion Side Effects:
Diethylpropion is known as a sympathomimetic
amine. This diet pill is also called an anorectic
drug. Diethylpropion works by stimulating the central nervous
system, which decreases the appetite by increasing an individual's
heart rate and blood pressure. This drug is prescribed only for
a short term use; it should be used in conjunction with a proper
diet and exercise.
How should one take Diethylpropion? Each dose of Diethylpropion should be taken with a full glass of water. This pill should be taken on an empty stomach before meals. The intake of this pill is usually three times a day, but your doctor's instructions should be followed. Do not crush or chew this tablet. Avoid exceeding the dose as it can enhance its side effects.
Side effects that are caused due to the usage of Diethylpropion are:
- Restlessness
- Nervousness
- Difficulty Sleeping
- Dry mouth
Central Nervous System:
In a few epileptics an increase in convulsive episodes has been
reported; rarely psychotic episodes at recommended doses; blurred
vision, over stimulation, dizziness, jitteriness, insomnia, anxiety,
euphoria, depression, dysphoria, tremor, mydriasis, drowsiness,
malaise, and headache .
Gastrointestinal:
Vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, unpleasant taste, nausea, constipation and other gastrointestinal disturbances.
Allergic: Urticaria, rash, ecchymosis,
erythema.
If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
Precautions
Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding.
Use of this medicine is not recommended if you have a history of
- heart disease,
- high blood pressure,
- hyperthyroidism,
- an anxiety disorder,
- glaucoma,
- atherosclerosis,
- or brain or spinal cord disorders,
- diabetes.
Avoid driving or using machinery, until you are used to the side effects
which come along with the drug.
Storage:
Diethylpropion diet pills should be stored away from heat and moisture.
Keep all medications away from the reach of children.
The drugs which interact with Diethylpropion
are:
Avoid the drugs which contain Monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI).
Inform your doctor if you are taking guanethidine, as it could lead
to increase in blood pressure levels.
Note:
Take Diethylpropion ONLY as directed by your doctor. If too much Diethylpropion is taken, it may cause unwanted effects or become habit-forming. Do NOT take it for a longer time than your doctor ordered.
